The Commercial Builders Council of the Central Minnesota Builders Association is an organization of commercial builders and industry specialists. We are dedicated to promoting professionalism, excellence and public awareness within the Commercial Council. We accomplish this through education, information and by working with the membership, industry and the community.

Light Commercial Construction
The light commercial construction industry is experiencing growth even as residential construction is facing declines. Lending practices for light commercial remain stable. This is the perfect time for builders to diversify. From July 2006-July 2007, the value of private commercial construction increased by 15.4%. In those areas most often considered light commercial, some of the increases were even greater. Mini-storage saw a 68% increase, schools went up by 27%, and retail stores rose by more than 16%. It’s time to focus on this growing area of the industry.

What Is the Commercial Builders Council?
The CMBA Commercial Builders Council was formed in December 2008 and is chartered under the National Association of Home Builders. The council’s mission is to be the source for light commercial diversification providing resources and growth opportunities to CMBA builders and associates.
Commercial builders join to improve their business management skills, to network with peers, to meet with local officials, and to work for the betterment of the industry. Your council’s future success hinges upon its ability to successfully address these areas, satisfying existing members’ expectations while attracting new members to join.

The Mission for the Commercial Council of the Central Minnesota Builders Association (CMBA) is to provide informational and educational services for CMBA members who:
- are commercially active or diversifying into light commercial building and commercial remodeling;
- are building environmentally-friendly structures by incorporating environmental considerations and resource/energy efficiency into land development and building.
